I used to shoot film very infrequently. After a few rolls, that frequency dropped from “hardly” to “never,” and half way through a roll of Portra 400, I packed up my old busted Yashica in a box of other trinkets and ceased thinking about it for the better part of three years. But a few weeks ago, I slung my camera over my shoulder on the way out the door and fired off the last 8 or 9 exposures on a hike in the Uintas. The photos that came back from the lab are a tiny port window into the last four years of my life.

In July, four of us came together in the heart of Grand Teton National Park to complete the Teton Crest Trail - Daniel, Michael, Graham, and myself. It was truly unreal. In five days and four nights, we logged roughly 42 miles through some of the most beautiful and rugged terrain I have ever seen.

San Rafael Swell

3 hours due south of Salt Lake City lies San Rafael Swell - a dry desert region spotted with canyons and bisected by shallow rivers and inhabited by desert rats and retirees. We left town after work on Friday for a three day, two night trip to the swell and found a connection much stronger than we expected.
